Slight increase of sales on fixed telephone market
After a two-year period of decline, in the 9 months of 2010, the fixed sales registered a slight increase over the similar timeframe of 2009 by about 0,8% and reached 1 billion 419,7 million lei, whereas the sales in the III-d quarter of 2010 increased by 3,9% over the same timeframe of 2009 and totaled about 500,4 million lei. These are the data provided by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) related to the given market.
The market increase was caused exclusively by higher sales by JSC MOLDTELECOM – by 1,7% over the same period of 2009 and reached 1 billion 404,4 million lei, the ones of alternative operators reduced by 44,1% and reached 15,3 million lei.
The average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 6,3%, reaching 144,6 lei in the III quarter. The indicator registered by MOLDTELECOM was 147,6 lei – an increase by 6,6%, the one of alternative operators was 50,3 lei – an increase by about 8%.
The number of fixed subscribers exceeded 1 million 155 thousand, which is 16,3 (+1,4%) increase, whereas the penetration rate per 100 inhabitants came up to 32,4%. In this timeframe, MOLDTELECOM connected over 8,5 thousand subscribers to its networks, alternative operators - 7,8 thousand. As of October 1, JSC MOLDTELECOM has over 1 million 118 thousand subscribers and alternative operators - over 36,2 thousand.
In January - September 2010, 17 providers operated on the fixed market, JSC MOLDTELECOM” holding, by turnover, a share of 98,93%. The other part of the fixed market is shared by the alternative operators , such as State Company „Moldova railway (Calea ferata din Moldova)”, JSC „Riscom”, „Arax-Impex” LLC, „Sicres” LLC, "Starnet” LLC, JSC „Orange Moldova„, "Transneogrup” LLC etc.
