Today, March 21, ANRCETI Director, Sergiu Sitnic, was elected chairman of the EaP Electronic Communications Regulators’ Network. The Director of the Communications Regulatory Authority of Lithuania (RRT), Feliksas Dobrovolskis was elected as Deputy Chairman. The elections took place within the first Plenary Meeting of the EaP Regulators Network, going on in Kiev, Ukraine, on March 21 - 22.
The Kiev event was attended by heads of NRAs of the five EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, R. Moldova, Ukraine), from EU regulators (Romania, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, Poland, Slovak Republic, Austria) officials from the European Commission, and BEREC. The Plenary participants approved the Work plan of the organization, for 2013, and discussed the results of the comparative analysis of the sector development and the evolution of the regulatory frameworks applied in the EaP countries, made by Slovak Pricewaterhouse and Coopers.
As background information: in November 2011, ANRCETI was designated as coordinator of the creation of the EaP regulators Network, and RRT – as deputy coordinator. In September 2012, ANRCETI hosted the inaugural IV reunion of the regulators, organized jointly with the EC, during which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. The new organization has the important mission to ensure exchange of experience, on regular basis, between EU and EaP regulators in terms of harmonization of the national legal framework to the EU acquis and best practices.
