Newly-Appointed Director Introduced to ANRCETI Employees

Today, July 15th, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar, Minister of Economy, introduced the newly-appointed ANRCETI Director, Mr. Grigore Varanita, to ANRCETI staff. Grigore Varanita was appointed by Government Decision on July 10th, for a 4-year term of office. By the same Decision, the Government accepted the resignation of Mr. Sergiu Sîtnic, at his request.

During the meeting with ANRCETI staff, the Minister said that Grigore Varanita is a qualified specialist, with sufficient ICT experience to be able to promote together with ANRCETI team the regulations necessary for the development of the market under transformation process. He wished the new Director and ANRCETI team to display more courage in decision-making and to assume responsibility for their fulfillment.

With reference to the immediate priorities of ANRCETI, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to strengthen the economic component of ANRCETI work, to ensure sound management of wholesale interconnection services, efficient use of limited state resources, to monitor the implementation of number portability and to develop a roadmap for electronic communications infrastructure sharing.

In his turn, the new Director, Grigore Varanita said he knows very well the current problems of the ICT sector, the regulator’s objectives and assured that jointly with ANRCETI will take the necessary steps to promote competition in the provision of networks, associated infrastructure and electronic communications services, so that users have the possibility to choose services, prices and quality. He underlined that he relies upon the expertise of ANRCETI, and the support from the Government in addressing the problems in this important sector of the national economy.
