Total Sales Volume in Electronic Communications Sector Grew 14,8% Second qtr. 2014

In April-June 2014, the total volume of revenues generated by electronic communications activities (mobile telephony, mobile broadband, fixed telephony, fixed broadband, broadcasting, other activities in this sector) increased over the same timeframe of last year by 14,8% up to 1 billion 742,7 million lei, as shown in the Report (doc. in state language) of the National Agency for Regulation of Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) about the evolution of the electronic communications market in second quarter of 2014, published on www.anrceti.md.

The revenue growth was driven by higher sales on practically all market segments, except fixed, where the volume of sales dropped, as compared to qtr II of 2013, by 9,5% down to 248,5 mil. lei.

According to the report, the Internet access and data transmission market had the largest revenue growth – over 20, where the sales amounted to over 247,8 million lei. Revenue from the sale of mobile broadband services (via modems and data cards) increased by 8,7% up to 71.6 million lei, the revenues from broadcasting – by 3,4% and constituted 87,9 million lei, from mobile services – by 1,2% and amounted to 897,6 million lei, revenues from other activities in electronic communications grew to about 189,3 million lei.

In terms of average monthly revenue per user (ARPU), the highest revenues came from fixed and mobile broadband: 159,83 lei and, accordingly, 87,3 lei. The value of this indicator on the fixed market was 67,8 lei, mobile market – 67,3 lei, pay TV market (cable, satellite, IPTV and MMDS) – 52,09 lei.
