National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova

A team of experts from National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI - www.anrceti.md), headed by its director, Sergiu Sitnic is taking part in the Regional Development Forum for Europe and CIS „Next Generation Networks (NGN) and broadband communications (Broadband)” that opened on Tuesday, May 4, in Chisinau and will last till May 6. The Forum is organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MTIC).

The Prime Minister, Vlad Filat, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. The delegates were also welcomed by the Minister of Information Technologies and Communications Alexandru Oleinic, ANRCETI Director, Sergiu Sitnic and other officials.

Today, the participants are discussing a range of issues concerning the implementation of NGN networks and broadband, standardization, bridging the digital divide existent in some countries of this region, experience and opportunities for developing new telecommunications technologies.

On Wednesday, a special session will bring into discussion regulatory issues of broadband wireless, promotion of competition and investment in this market segment. ANRCETI representatives will take part in the debates on these very important issues.

After the forum in Chisinau, his organizers will develop practical recommendations on implementing NGN network and broadband. All documents will be placed on the Forum website ITU: http://www.itu.int.

The Republic of Moldova has been a full member of the International Telecommunications Union since October 1992. ITU is one of the oldest specialized Agencies of the United Nations - it was created on 17 May 1865 and in 2010 celebrates 135 years of its foundation. The main objective of ITU is to promote policies of communications development and standardization.
